Sony PXW-X70 XDCAM Hand-Held Camcorder 1" Exmor R CMOS Sensor 12x Optical Zoom USB/HDMI
The PXW-X70 palm sized camcorder continues to revolutionized with its conventional 1/3″ professional compact camcorder, but it features a 1″ type sensor, which is larger than a super-16 sized sensor and more than eight times the size of a 1/3″ sensor. The larger Exmor R sensor size provides for more cinematic appearing depth of field than a 1/3″ sensor is capable of and features a back-side illuminated design for improved low light performance. It features an integrated 12x optical zoom lens with a manual lens ring for focus control, and a three-level switchable ND filter. The top handle incorporates two 3-pin XLR inputs for recording audio from XLR microphones. The camera also supports control via Wi-Fi using smartphones or tablets and the optional Content Browser Mobile application. Planned upgrades will allow the camera to record in 4K UHD as well as add file transfer and streaming via Wi-Fi.

1.0 type Exmor R CMOS sensor for a wide range of shooting conditions
The PXW-X70 incorporates a 1.0 type Exmor R CMOS sensor, which is approximately the same size as a Super 16mm film frame, to achieve high resolution, high sensitivity, low noise, and wide dynamic range. The sensor has 14.2 million effective pixels enhancing shooting under severe lighting conditions and providing more freedom of creative expression.
High sensitivity and high resolution
The 1.0 sensor is brighter and offers more bokeh with a shallow depth of field than 1/3-inch or 1/4.7-inch sensors.
Advanced BIONZ X image processing engine
An evolved BIONZ engine achieves more lifelike images, and enables the addition of new features that take advantage of faster processing.
FTP Transfer
This feature supports FTP file transfers on the PXW-X70, allowing content files recorded with the XAVC Proxy Recording feature and other content files shot in XAVC (4K/HD), MPEG HD and AVCHD formats to be sent over the Internet for remote storage on an FTP server.
Wi-Fi/NFC (Near Field Communication) with Content Browser Mobile)
The PXW-X70 can be remotely controlled from a smartphone or tablet computer (iOS 4.3 through 7.0 or Android 2.3 through 4.3) via a Wi-Fi connection. One-touch authentication is also possible with smartphones that offer NFC connectivity. The required Content Browser Mobile mobile smartphone application can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or App Store.
Superb night shooting
In addition to having a sensitive Exmor R CMOS Sensor, the PXW-X70 has a Night Shot mode that bypasses the camera’s IR filter and includes a switchable infra-red light, so you can shoot in total darkness.
Clear Image Zoom
The 12x optical zoom can be doubled to 24x with Clear Image Zoom, maintaining full resolution using Super Resolution Technology. In addition, Digital Extender can double this range again, up to 48x zoom. Super Resolution Technology is a Sony original intelligent interpolation which analyzes the input image and increases the resolution of the image.
Viewfinder includes amazing OLED technology
This 0.39-inch OLED viewfinder offers superb OLED brightness, contrast and response. The high resolution (1,440K dot) of the viewfinder allows better precision of manual focus operations and eliminates any color-breaking phenomenon.
Multi-Interface (MI) Shoe
The PXW-X70 takes advantage of Sony's flexible Multi-Interface (MI) Shoe, which provides power, signal connections, and coordinated on/off switching to compatible Sony accessories.
